Gold and Blue Male Birthday Card

DH commissioned me to make a card for one of his mates as his birthday is coming up.
He wanted something like the pink and chocolate card I made, but obviously suitable for a man.

Male birthday card

So this is the finished card after DH chose the colours and the stamp he wanted me to use. Personally I find male cards normally so difficult to make, but this one was fun. I will probably make a few like this just to keep on hand for future male birthdays and other occasions. Let me know what you think. Here is a close up photo of the gold embossed flourish stamp from Kaisercraft.

Just a quick note too: I am running behind on my announcement, but I promise you will find out very shortly. Providing no more dramas here you should know by next week.

Lots of Wonderful Crafty Goodies! (Picture Heavy)

I received a HUGE stash of goodies from a wonderful friend of mine in Scotland. Natalie makes some absolutely stunning cards, so go and have a peek on her blog to see more.

Thank you sooooooooo much Natalie. I LOVE IT ALL! (((BIG HUGS))) I took the liberty of adding a quick watermark to the photos with Natalie's blog details seeing as they are her creations.

My daughter is thrilled with the decoupaged card sent to her too. She wants to have it framed!

I especially love the wired flower cards Natalie makes and she sent one that matched the bookmark from the swap at the Crafts Beautiful forum. I will treasure them always. The photos don't do these any justice as they are so much prettier to see in person. I must have taken about 30 photos in different lighting to try and get the right colour! This was as close as I could get to the real colours.

She also made some of the flowers for me to use. Now to find just the right thing to use them for.

Now as if that wasn't already enough, in the parcel was also a couple of UK craft magazines (these issues are not even out in Australia yet!), papers, beads and lots of other gorgeous goodies.

Thanks again Natalie, you truly are a special friend indeed!

Pink and Chocolate Flourish Card

card rhinestones embossing powder make

Here is a card I made using paper sent to me in a RAK from Creations By Copse.

I stamped a flourish from Kaisercraft around the border of the base card and used old paper distress embossing powder so it would match the colour on the patterned paper. I then added the chocolate patterned paper to a square of pearlescent card and glued on some rhinestones using Pritt gel glue.

I have only recently found out about Pritt gel and it is fantastic for adhering very difficult to glue items. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and I love it. It is suitable for plastic, glass and metal and doesn't go stringy like other glues I have tried.

Anyway, this is just a quick post for today. It is school holidays here at the moment so I will be making my announcement towards the end of next week.

Some Aussie Counrty Photos for You to Enjoy!

The Cottage

We have just spent a wonderful weekend away in the country, in a gorgeous little timber cottage right near the river.

Here is a pic of the kookaburra that insisted on making it's presence known to everyone! If you know what I mean!

The kangaroos came out each evening around dinner time. I managed to snap a few photos of them whilst they were concerned about a noise somewhere else. One of the roos here has a joey safely tucked inside her pouch. It must be a fairly large joey seeing how low her pouch is sitting!

A pair of blue wrens kept gracing us with their presence too! The male (the bright blue one) was very difficult to photograph as he was constantly moving, but the female wren was more than happy to pose for the camera it seemed! In the last photo she was less than a meter away from me.

I hope you have enjoyed the break from my usual posts and your mini Australian tour!

Wedding Anniversary Card

Wedding Anniversary Card bush embossing flowers

Here is a card I entered in the Wedding anniversary card challenge over on the Crafts Beautiful forum, it is also the card I will be giving my husband for our anniversary. I am a bit late in posting this as I didn't want to risk DH seeing it here, but seeing as he will not have internet access for a short while I thought it should be safe!

There is a bit of a story to making this card that relates to our wedding and honeymoon.

When we got married our colour scheme was mainly cream and gold(invitations) with burgandy(bridesmaids dresses, flowers and cumberbands) and dashes of white(my dress and the cake).

So for the card I decided to go with the same colour scheme. We made our own invitations and heat embossed gold images onto them. So for the card I have stamped floral images onto burgandy card and heat embossed it using gold tinsel embossing powder. I also used a gold leaf pen on all the edges.

When we went on our honeymoon, planted next to the steps was a gorgeous plant called a Wedding Bush.
That is where the cream floral paper and white pearlescent card flowers fit into the story.

Wedding Bush Flowers

We now have a wedding bush planted in our garden, but it wont be flowering for another few weeks yet. Just in time for our anniversary, just like the first time we saw it!
