Little Miss Easter Bunnies

I have been busy creating a family of little bunnies using my embroidery machine. These little cuties are made in one hooping and only require a small opening hand sewn up at the end.

They are my original design so the design is not able to be purchased yet. The white and pink rabbits are made from minky dot fleece and the orange one is from a stretch toweling. The toweling one makes for a lovely wash cloth come bath toy.

A Little Christmas Dress - Spotty Ric Rac

Here is a gorgeous dress I have just finished sewing for my little one for Christmas and could not wait to share with you. I stitched a rolled hem wth my overlocker on all the hems and added a little ric rac embellishment. This is a size one and it seems very long, but at least my little girl will be able to get lots of wear from it.

 It is from Simplicity 5695 and I love how many different looks you can get with the one pattern. This is going to be a definite favourite. There are only 4 pattern pieces needed to make this Christmas dress (view C) and it is so quick to make up.

Easter Cards using Penny Black Bunny Bath Stamp

I made these cute cards for Easter and just had to share them with you. Apart from the colouring and waiting for the stickles to dry they were quick to make.

The stamp is Penny Black Bunny Bath, it's an old one but new to me. I love this stamp so much I had to make several cards the same but different. The border is decorated with ice stickles in a swirl pattern. The stamp is coloured using a water brush and markers.

Mother's Day Cards using Twisted Paper Flowers 2009

I can now show you the cards I made for Mother's Day. They are very feminine and I love how they turned out. They were relatively quick to make and our Mums loved them.

On both of the cards I used twisted paper flowers which I made on my daisy wheel. A daisy wheel is a small knitting loom use for making wool flowers. They only take a couple of minutes each to make. I have been making a stash of them in different colours whilst watching TV. I combined the twisted paper flowers with vellum flowers and glittered silk flowers as well as a button from my huge button collection that you may remember from my previous post! Two down and many many more to go! LOL

The Mother's Day sentiment I wrote in gel pen on a scalloped tag I cut using the Storybook cartridge and my Cricut Expression. The swirls looked too much on the blue card so I removed them and used them as part of the flower.

I also made a very tiny dent in my ribbon and lace collection too using some on the cards. The longest piece was only 16cm(6 & 1/2") long. Oh well I guess every little bit helps!

17) Easter Egg cozy with printable pattern to sew. If you make these a little smaller they would make fun finger puppets!

18) Egg shaped Cakes! These look really cute, you bake a cake right in the egg, and I imagine they wouldn't last long. LOL

Valentine's Day Cricut Cards I have made!

I designed the heart with the flourish base on the Design Studio software for my cricut, then cut it out. I wanted it to look a little like a Cinderella carriage! Maybe I should take a photo with a horse in the front!

I covered the heart in opal glitter and then added pink pearl dimensional paint dots. I glued this to pink patterned card and cut around it. Can you see the the light shine through it? Then I added the flowers and beads. The back looks just like the front only without all the bling! Can you tell I really like this card???

Here is a red and white Valentine's Day card, similar but different to the carriage heart card, but the swirls at the base of the heart are smaller. I don't normally create with red, so this was a nice change from my usual colours.

I do have a Design Studio cut file for these cards, but I am not sure yet how to share them on my blog. I have used the Storybook cardtridge. If you are interested, email me with Valentine's Day cut file in the subject line and I will email it to you.

Christmas Printable Freebies and Blog Anniversary!

I can't believe it has been exactly one year since I began blogging. I have learnt so much about blogging and the internet and I am still learning new things.

To celebrate Christmas and my blog's anniversary, I have made up some Christmas printables for you to download and use. Just click on the images you would like in this post then save to your computer or print it directly from there. You may link to this page, but please do not sell the images or place these directly on your site. These pages have been made using a combination of free fonts and an image editing program.

These are great to use for scrapbooking, making cards and even just to decorate the gifts you give. I would love to see some photos if you wish to share them. I may even feature them here.
I have also included some colouring pages for kids. They print 2 images to a page, so you can make them into a mini colouring book if you wish.

Christmas Tag

Caardvarks is having a challenge to make a tag inspired by a month of the year. Thanks Lauren for sharing the link.

Here is my tag inspired by December.

Christmas is a busy time of shopping for gifts and also for those of you lucky enough it may also snow. I have combined these two things to create my tag.

The bag is actually from a double sided tag that I made from holographic shimmer card and then folded to create the bag shape. The background for the main tag is pearlescent card embossed with the snowflakes on my cuttlebug. The base of the handbag is also embossed with snowflakes too. I love the effect the embossing gives.

Have you noticed the bling on the bag?
LOL Some green and red seed beads with gold crimps.

I think I will probably be making quite a few of these come Christmas.

Free Easter Printables for Craft Projects

This is my early Easter present to you all. I have made up a page of cute Easter pictures for you to download and use. These are great for decorating Easter cards, eggs or baskets or any other Easter craft project you can think of.

Just click on the images and it will open in a new window. Then right click it and save to your computer. They should be able to be printed on an A4 sized sheet so that the individual pictures and words can be cut out and used, but you can make them whatever size you need.

The pictures are made using some free fonts I found on the net. They are for personal use only and can be used as is or coloured in. You may provide a link to here but please do not add these to your site without my permission. If you have any problems with downloading or printing them please let me know.

This how Stardust used my free printables. I never even thought about using them to decorate cupcakes. They look fantastic, but I am sure they would not have lasted very long!

Easter Craft Project - Eggs and Chicks

Here the tiny eggs lay waiting.......

...Then the hatching begins!

These Easter eggs and chicks in a nest are an easy and fun activity to do for kids and adults alike. These tiny eggs and chicks are just a mere 1 1/2" (3cm) tall.

1. Collect some small twigs and sticks and arrange randomly in a circular brown paper-mache bowl or container. This will help give the nest it's shape.
   
2. Paint some polystyrene eggs or real ones with pretty paints.
   
3. While the eggs dry make some baby chicks with pom poms, tulle for the wings, cardboard for the beak and joggle eyes.

These wee chicks are waiting for tucker!

Now the baby chicks are fed and ready for bed!

Happy Valentine's Day 2008

Today is a day to celebrate Love and Life. Whether you have a significant other or not at this time, enjoy living the life you have and loving yourself for who you truly are.

These gorgeous flowers are from my husband (Thank you honey if you read this!). We are apart this Valentine's Day due to work circumstances, so we will celebrate in a few days time.

Crafts Beautiful Magazine Valentine's Day Challenge

I thought I would share with you the card I made for the Valentine's Day card challenge over at Crafts Beautiful. The only restrictions were to not use pink or red.

Well since I had been making some yummy chocolates yesterday, it just seemed to me that adding a chocolate component would be well Soooo Delicious!!! Actually SewDelish!(pardon the pun)

Anyway with a little bit of melted chocolate, a paintbrush and a mini ziplock bag I produced this...

It is a lickable card!

All the hearts are edible and the rest of the card is designed to be a keepsake. The paper that the chocolate is on is foodsafe too, so no worries there. (My secret is baking paper - which has a vellum look to it)

There are little forget-me-not type flowers on the large heart. Not that my DH is likely to forget me, but I just thought them appropriate. The hearts are made from dark chocolate and the leaves and flowers are coloured white chocolate!

MMMMMMM! not sure if this will actually make it to Valentine's Day. It might just melt in this Aussie weather, don't you think? ........especially if it is in my mouth!

Christmas Stocking Sewn on My Treadle

After practicing sewing with my Singer treadle sewing machine on countless scraps of fabric I have finally managed to make something. Well I actually made it just before Christmas I have to admit and just found it again so I could post it here.

A lovely blue Christmas stocking made from felt, fleece and ric rac. Very simple in design, but fun to make nonetheless and it took less than half an hour.


I suppose this does not need to be just for Christmas, it would make a great gift bootie bag for a new baby or little boy.


There is something special about sewing on a treadle. With no electricity and powered by my feet rocking back and forth rhythmically, I can't help but wonder about all the women that used my treadle in years gone by and what they made, dresses(maybe wedding gowns), quilts, work and play clothes. Then I remember my Singer sewing machine attachments and daydream about darning, embroidery, pin tucks and gathers made on a simple straight stitch machine.


What a hectic life the women of old must have had. Raising several or more children, keeping house- cooking cleaning and making clothes for everyone. All done with no electricity and the same duties day after day! We are very fortunate to have electricity, although I can't help but wonder sometimes that all the gadgets that make things quicker our lives easier, in turn make it busier because we feel we need to do more and fit more into our day.

Reindeer for Christmas

We just had to make these really cute reindeer today We couldn't find the right colour facecloths so we used some chocolate brown stretch knit I found in the cupboard instead.

We pinked the edges of the squares of fabric and then made them up in the same way described in the link above. We ran out of large soaps so we then started using travel soaps, smaller eyes and tiny pompoms and made even cuter baby reindeer!!!

SOOOOO CUTE!!






These are so easy to make even kids can do them and would make a very quick last minute gift that almost anyone is sure to love! These are going to teachers and family members.
