Christmas Tag

Caardvarks is having a challenge to make a tag inspired by a month of the year. Thanks Lauren for sharing the link.

Here is my tag inspired by December.

cuttlebug tag snowflakes bag purse Christmas xmas
Christmas is a busy time of shopping for gifts and also for those of you lucky enough it may also snow. I have combined these two things to create my tag.

The bag is actually from a double sided tag that I made from holographic shimmer card and then folded to create the bag shape. The background for the main tag is pearlescent card embossed with the snowflakes on my cuttlebug. The base of the handbag is also embossed with snowflakes too. I love the effect the embossing gives.

Have you noticed the bling on the bag?
LOL Some green and red seed beads with gold crimps.

I think I will probably be making quite a few of these come Christmas.

Stepping Out Challenge with Blog Candy Give-away

Cuttlebug card black white stylized flowers
I have been going a little Cuttlebug crazy recently (in case you hadn't noticed!) and I have created a few cards different to my usual tastes. I find it much easier to create projects that are pretty and in colours that I like.

I was inspired to do this when I found some paper and card that has been waiting to be used for some time. Colours I really don't like are yellow, red, brown and black. My stash of these seems to be getting bigger the more I use up other colours. So for my Stepping Out here are a few things I have made in colours or styles unlike my regular tastes.

Cuttlebug embossed traffic jam folder card

This one is a sneak peak of a bookmark I made for the swap
at the Craft Beautiful Forum. It is mostly yellow. (more pics to come)

Sweet shop bookmark swap

I have really enjoyed doing this one myself and I am really please with the results, so I thought some of you might too.

For my Stepping Out Challenge you need to create a post with something you have made (it can be any type of project) different to what you would normally choose. Only you know what you really like, so choose something totally the opposite. Link to this post and make a comment here with your link for everyone to find. I will arrange for a small blog candy prize for the winner so make sure I am able to contact you. I will announce the winner on the 15th May 08 so that you have plenty of time to get creating. If you subscribe to my blog (see orange button above) you can see when I have posted updates.

By the way I have made a new copyright logo for my photos. What do you think? I have seen some lovely ones around and thought it was about time I created something a little more stylish.

Thanks to those that have entered.

Cuttlebug and Crop-a-Dile ll Big Bite Update

Cuttlebug sizzix card embossed wedding card bridal shower
Well as a few of you may know I have a couple of new crafty babies in the house. One is my Cuttlebug and the other a Crop-a-Dile ll Big Bite. For those of you who don't know what these gadgets are I will explain.

The Crop-a-dile ll Big Bite is a type of punch that can punch holes in almost anything from paper to leather and even thin sheets of tin as well as set eyelets. This particular one has a 6 inch reach and can be used to punch holes in the middle of a 12" scrapbook page and quietly set eyelets with ease.

I was slightly disappointed with the Crop-a-dile ll because when I used it for the first time the eyelets were not setting straight. Upon inspection I noted the parts were not aligning correctly thus resulting in an incorrectly set eyelet. The pin should be directly in the centre of the base part below it. You can see by the photo below the reason why the eyelets were not being set straight. Fortunately the company I purchased it from (40 mins away from me) exchanged it for another which has been working like a dream.
Crop-a-dile ll Big Bite Not aligning problem

The Cuttlebug has also been a highly welcomed addition to my craft room and has been getting all the necessary workouts required for all new members! LOL It is a machine designed to make die cut outs and also emboss. It is kind of similar to a pasta machine for want of a better description. What I love about it is that I can make die cuts from paper, card, acetate, fabric and even foil and thin sheets of tin! Dies made by most other companies will also fit the cuttlebug which is a big bonus! You can see some of the shapes I cut out within just a few minutes of unpacking it in this post. This is so easy even kids can use it. Actually there is a version for children named CuttleKids! I have also discovered that EBAY is a fantastic source for dies and embossing folders. The prices are far better than what you pay in a craft store, and that is including the cost of postage! (Actually, just ignore my last comment. I don't want to be bidding against any of you, so don't go and check it out! You do hear me don't you?)

Here is my Something Blue cuttlebug card that I made for a Wedding challenge going on at the moment at the Crafts Beautiful Forum. I made it using a sizzix dress die and a cuttlebug swirls embossing folder. The heart behind the dress I cut out using a Fiskars shape cutter and template. This one would be lovely for a feminine and modern Bridal Shower invitation.

Magnolia Stamp Challenge - Girl's Party Hat

Magnolia Stamp Tilda challenge

I have made this girls party hat for the Ribbon Challenge over at Tilda and Co. I wanted to create something a little bit different . I used the stamped image sent to me by Susie B and painted her using an aquawash paint pen. I then partially overlaid her with a paper doily spattered with Encore Metallic stamps using a paint brush. This was glued onto a pink card party hat that I traced from an old one. Finally I added the stamped flourishes, false eyelets and ribbons. What do you think of my self designed eyelets? Don't they look like the real thing?
Just click on the photos to get a bigger view.

Magnolia Stamp Tilda challenge

I wasn't too sure how she would turn out, I didn't have much of a plan, but I am glad to say I like it and so does my DD who had to try it on before I could photograph it!

This is the back view with pastel pink organza ribbon, candy pink satin ribbon and gold edged purple satin ribbons trailing down like a princess hat.

By the way I have been giving my new Cuttlebug a workout and I feel a couple of tutorials coming on, so stay tuned.

Green Challenge

Cottage Magpie has set a green challenge this time. So here are my green photos.
Our Siamese fighting fish, Ben, in his tank on our green walls.
The water is very clear but the reflection from the
wall and the gravel make it look green!
Mr Bump lives in there too.
Ben sleeps under his arm at night!

A nest of eggs the Easter Bunny left on Sunday.
I think I forgot to mention that the Easter Bunny
left some very suspicious looking chocolate buttons
over the floor in several places around the house!
What a naughty bunny!

My sage green and cream sewing boxes.
Sage green is popular in this house at the moment. You
can just see the striped green curtains in the background.
Sewing boxes

Where would a sewing box be without thread?
These are some vintage wooden threads I bought on
ebay last year. A number of them haven't even been used!
You can just see some new green spools in the
background there on the right.

Coming up last there is the doll's house in green.
It was painted to match the walls, in our house
making it a little less obvious in the room.
It will no doubt receive another coat of
paint sometime in the future.

Well that is it for the green photos for now. My camera's batteries are recharging, but I wanted to get this post up before the deadline.

There are 2 people who have guessed close to it, and NO I am not going to say who! (Just in case you were wondering!) hehehe

Photo Editing Competition

Photo Projectz is having a photo editing competition, so I thought I would have a go. My entry is a fairly simple one, however I like how it seems to have a completely different meaning now.

All I did was to copy the photo and make a mirror image. I then added some text and voila!
What do you think?

I feel like I'm standing at the crossroads of life.
